About Us
Fueling Dreams One Cup at a Time
Calamity Jane—the Doris Day classic—sparked big dreams in founder of the Oak Ridge coffee shop.. Whether imagining herself as a Broadway star or a sharpshooting horseback rider, Jordan believed all was possible. She watched her grandparents sing “Secret Love” along with Doris Day, their eyes full of nostalgia and tenderness. It was their song—their story. That movie wasn’t just entertainment; it was a portal to the people they once were: dreamers in a small town, full of love and hope.
Calamity’s Coffee is a celebration of the power of dreaming too big and sharing those dreams with the people who matter most.
We believe coffee and tea can stir the imagination and spark real connection. That’s why we’ve built a space where people can come together, sip something special, and be part of a community that believes in dreaming out loud.
Our Mission
We are rethinking what a coffee shop can be. Instead of focusing on the bottom line, we focus on what really matters: you.
We believe success means:
- Being transparent (even our pricing is broken down so you know exactly what you are paying for)
- Offering classes, presentations, and events that foster creativity and learning
- Creating a welcoming space where everyone feels seen, valued, and inspired
Inspired by Legacy
The real Calamity Jane (Martha Jane Canary) wasn’t just a figure of the Wild West—she was also a caretaker and a fighter for the vulnerable. Similarly, Doris Day wasn’t just a screen icon—she was a passionate advocate for animal welfare.
We honor their legacy by partnering with organizations that support:
- Supporting hosting nonprofit food and clothing drives
- Making donati0ns to community organizations and schools
- Promoting local and small businesses (most of the products sold in our shop are made/produced by folks in the community)
We Genuinely Care
Every detail at Calamity’s is intentional. From the way we source our products to the way we serve our customers, our focus is on quality, kindness, and connection.
We’re proud to be a part of the Oak Ridge community, and we strive to offer a one-of-a-kind experience that reflects the heart of our hometown.
Come dream with us. We’re saving a seat for you.
Historic Jackson Square
We hope to always call our Jackson Square location home. Opened August 1st, 2023, this location has already become a special part of the nearby community. We proudly display signs, coffee cups, and posters from Oak Ridge’s past. From the Ferrell Shop (now a part of Dean’s Bakery) sign to coffee cups from The Daily Grind (a shop that was once housed in now 201), this location is perfect to get a little history while sitting back and enjoying great conversation or getting work done.
