What Happens With Your Money?

I will never forget the day a vendor said, “if sales continue like this, I may not have to worry as much.”  She was referring to financial concerns that deeply impacted her family.  Sales were increasing and we were having trouble keeping up with demand, but celebrating the fact that you kept her busy.  A friend of mine refers to herself as a Calamity’s angel.  On a much grander scale, she’s onto something.  Oak Ridge, Clinton and surrounds, because of you, Calamity’s has paid our vendors almost $10k (that’s in just 2 months of our grand opening)!  Our bakers have seen an increase in revenue and we’ve gone from serving 5lbs of espresso to 40lbs a week!  By supporting our small shop, you are creating opportunities for businesses in Oak Ridge, Clinton and Oliver Springs.  Supporting Calamity’s also means creating jobs in house.  We have gone from a one woman show to a staff of five and we continue to grow.  Even in these trying times, you are helping small businesses thrive!

You are angels to more than just Calamity’s.  In just two months, we have raised and/or donated over $5k for various nonprofits and collected blankets, pet food, and other necessary supplies for those in our communities who need a little extra assistance.  Calamity’s will always be thankful for those who helped us succeed, and we believe giving back is the best way to show our gratitude.

Local artists and craftspeople have also been impacted by you.  Our classes have generated roughly $2k.  Calamity’s gives all monies collected (minus credit card sales) to the instructors.  During these events, our only profit is on drinks and food sold.  We are excited to continue holding both free and paid events, and look forward to working with other businesses in the area to host bigger events.  Visit the Jackson Square Calendar to stay updated on events.

Ultimately, your choice to patronize Calamity’s has a huge impact, one you should take pride in.  We do our best to keep prices low and genuinely care about you.  You are not a number, or someone who should be rushed through the menu.  You are a valuable part of our business.  We will never be able to thank you enough for all that you do!
