Manhattan Project: An Unknown History to Inspire

Award-winning author and environmental scientist Katatra Vasquez is passionate about revealing the contributions of the historically unknown in American history to connect and inspire. A Dayton, Ohio native and Tuskegee University graduate, she spent over 20 years safeguarding America’s historic spaces and has been recognized by both the Tennessee Historical Commission and the U.S. Department of Energy. Through her children’s books and heritage education work, Katatra blends history, STEM, and storytelling to spark imagination, connect, and inspire.
Conversational ASL
Whether you're brand new to ASL (American Sign Language) or looking for people to practice full conversations with, this welcoming class is open to everyone! Instructor Amy Cone, an experienced ASL interpreter across a variety of fields, brings deep passion and knowledge to each session. She is sometimes accompanied by her husband, Daniel, who is Deaf and adds both personal insight and a wonderful sense of humor to every class. Together, they tailor each session to the needs and skill levels of the participants, making it a great fit for beginners and experienced learners alike.
This is our most attended class, so please be sure to email us to reserve your seat. While the class is free, donations are appreciated to help cover the cost of handouts and the instructors’ time (recommended donation: $5).

Millborne Makers Club
Are you crafty—or wish you were? Come join a laid-back, welcoming group of creatives who enjoy everything from scrapbooking and card-making to drawing, doodling, and experimenting with new art projects. Whether you're a seasoned maker or just curious to try something new, this is a relaxed space to unwind, share ideas, and get inspired. Bring your own project or jump into something new—everyone is welcome!
Book Bedazzling Night
Join Miss Rebecca from Story Dates for a cozy, sparkle-filled evening of creativity! Bring your favorite book (hardcover preferred) and I’ll guide you step-by-step as you transform it with rhinestones and shine. Every guest receives a full rhinestone kit to take home so the magic continues long after the event.

Bring your journal, paper, stickers, scraps, etc., and join others who enjoy Junk Journaling. Don't know how to begin? Have no fear, this club is run by Leila, our resident Junk Journaling instructor.
Skeletons and Skulls (hosted by AMSE)
Students will learn about what animals eat by examining skulls, they will determine if the animal is an herbivore, omnivore, or carnivore. Mounted local wild animals are available for observation. Food webs, how animals move around, and how they protect themselves will be discussed.

ASL After Dark (Ages 18+)
Ever wonder how to sign those words we all really want to know but are too afraid to ask? Now’s your chance! Join ASL interpreter Amy Cone for a fun and informative session focused on learning commonly used adult slang, taboo terms, and expressive phrases in American Sign Language. This class is strictly for adults (18+) and will be taught in a respectful, educational environment—with a sense of humor, of course!
Zine Making
Come learn how to make a zine!
Zines (pronounced “zeen”) are DIY, self-published works. They can be as simple as one sheet of paper cut and folded or as creative as multiple pages cut and sewn together. There are no rules.
They’re a wonderful way to share knowledge, art, poetry, ideas, and stories.
In this workshop, you’ll learn a few different ways to make a zine and then get creative together making your own one-sheet mini zines.
Paper, pens and markers, and some basic collage materials provided. Bring your own ideas or get inspired while we make.
No artistic talent required!

Poetry Workshop & Open Mic
Join Rhea Sunshine for an evening of rhythm, rhyme, and rich coffee! Whether you’re a seasoned poet or just want to share a few heartfelt lines, our mic is open to all voices. Come sip, snap, and support local wordsmiths in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere.
ASL 101
This class introduces students to the fundamentals of American Sign Language (ASL), focusing on basic vocabulary, grammar, fingerspelling, and numbers. Students will develop expressive and receptive signing skills through interactive practice, visual-gestural communication, and storytelling. The course also explores aspects of Deaf culture, history, and community to promote cultural awareness and sensitivity.

Build a Bowl
This beginner friendly program will walk students through using clay slabs to hand build their own pottery bowl. This bowl is personal size- perfect for soup on a cozy day or midnight cereal! Students will have the opportunity to embrace creative freedom and add personality through texture rollers, carving, or sculpting 3D appendages onto their mugs- bring your inspo pictures and ideas! Learn tips & tricks from practicing artist, Casey, and create your own fancy, food safe bowl. No prior experience needed! Drinks and treats will be available for additional purchase!
Seating is limited, preregistration is REQUIRED. Class is best suited for ages 18+.
Mugs will be ready for pickup from the original class site 4-5 weeks post class, announced on The Happy House Eclectic Facebook page. Pieces not picked up in a timely manner will be re-homed at venues discretion.
